Challenge

In Bihar, women and girls often face disrespect, discrimination, and stereotyping in healthcare. This lack of dignity in healthcare is discouraging them from seeking health-related services for early intervention. Leading to avoidable health complications that could be mitigated with respectful, empathetic, and accessible medical services.

PASI in Action

Collective Identity and Digital Storytelling

Recognising the need for women to first introspect on what dignity means to them, the ‘Care with Dignity’ campaign was initiated. Using empathy mapping and everyday objects, women and artist Princess Pea co-created the campaign symbol—a safety pin with a female figurine—uniting women across ages and backgrounds. Using the #PassThePin hashtag, women opened up about their healthcare experiences, highlighting the need for respectful and empathetic healthcare.

Public Monument

To keep the movement alive and widen the reach of conversations and awareness, a sculpture of the "Care with Dignity" symbol was installed at a public junction opposite a hospital. This powerful monument stands as a collective memory, urging dignity in women’s healthcare. It sparks dialogue among passersby, turning curiosity into consciousness.
